UPDATE: Issues with SMS notification registration - Resolved

Innovative believes that they have fixed the issue with SMS registration. PrairieCat staff have successfully tested this and were able to register for text notifications. If your patrons continue to have issues with registering, please submit a help desk ticket.

NEWS: Resource Sharing Summit Nov 3

Action: Informational / Register for Summit

The annual Resource Sharing Summit is on Thursday, November 3 from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm at the DeKalb Public Library. This event will be facilitated by Amanda Standerfer, Fast Forward Libraries consultant. The focus will be on re-engaging patrons and evaluating what's working (and what's not) as we collectively recover from the global pandemic.

NEWS: PrairieCat Email Account Migration - Oct 2022

PrairieCat will be moving your PrairieCat Email Account services (formerly Zimbra) to Office 365 during the month of October. To start this process, we ask that all member libraries with a PrairieCat Email Account sign into their new accounts by October 14th.

TRAINING: Damaged Items Tip


Dealing with damaged materials is probably the least favorite part of any circulation manager’s job. When those damaged materials are owned by another library, that adds another level of complexity. This month’s Did You Know is a one-page infographic that lists a variety of scenarios and how the item should be handled. You can use this sheet as a handy reference chart at your circulation desk:

TRAINING: Register for Vega Discover Demos - Oct

PrairieCat is hosting live trainings via Zoom on the new catalog, Vega Discover. This will eventually replace Encore. Please share with staff and register below. These trainings would be appropriate for any level of library staff that use the catalog. It will be an overview of key features and functions such as navigation, my account, searching, and more. A pre-recorded training session will also be made available in the coming weeks.

NEWS: Zimbra Email Migration to Office 365

Action: Informational

PrairieCat will be migrating our email services from Zimbra to Microsoft 365 next month, October.

This will change the way you log into your provided PrairieCat Account Email, but the address will remain the same. Your library’s Zimbra account (aka PrairieCat Email Account) is where you receive paging lists and other system notifications like failed hold calls and returned mail.
