Congratulations to the DeKalb Public Library on reopening on Monday, January 18th, in their new library addition! All PrairieCat libraries can now resume routing items to DeKalb via the paging list, and DeKalb PL staff are resuming filling requests from the paging list.
This month's Tip of the Month provides a brief overview of cancelled holds in Sierra - the ways holds can be cancelled, options for sending a hold cancellation message to a patron, and how to view cancelled holds from a patron's record.
The 2016 PrairieCat Barcode testing dates are announced and listed below.
To quickly locate the testing dates in L2, enter the tag 'barcode testing' in the Search box in the upper right area of the L2 web page. This will produce a partial listing, when you click on the "More Tagged" link you will see all 12 of the 2016 testing dates. You do NOT need to be logged into see the testing dates, you DO need to be logged into register for a date.

Wilmington Public Library (WLBB) will be closed during the first week of January (1/4 to 1/8) for recarpeting. The library will NOT be filling holds during this time and they will NOT receive RAILS delivery while the library is closed. Materials being sent to WLBB during this tiem will be held at the RAILS Bolingbrook Service Center until deliver resumes.
Congratulations to the Grant Park PL (GPBB-2) and the Richard A Mautino PL (RAMG-8) who have begun filling holds via the Paging List today.
These two Union Listing members are actively adding their collections to Sierra and having reached 25% of their collection being entered into Sierra, they can now begin filling holds. Once their collections are completely added to the database these libraries will become Basic Online members.
DeKalb Public Library has reached a milestone on their library construction project. The new addition to their library is about complete, so they will be closing from Monday, December 7 through Sunday, January 17, 2016 to move into the new part of the library. They will re-open on Monday, January 18, 2016.
PrairieCat User Groups Day 2016 has been scheduled for Friday, September 30, 2016, at Kishwaukee College in Malta, IL. Mark your calendars, and much more information about the day will be shared closer to the event. The event is in L2 already if you would like to register now.
The PrairieCat Training Committee has been hard at work, and there are some new resources on the support website to highlight. We've resumed the Tip of the Month series (sorry for the break!) with a handout on using the Clear Expired Holds and Holdshelf function which all PrairieCat libraries should be using. There are also new bookmarks for patrons on how to sign up for text alerts and for reading history.
