I just wanted to start a conversation to find out what processes libraries are following for inventory these days. Are physical inventories a thing of the past? Do they take too much time for the number of issues discovered that way?
There are probably a few books on our shelves that no longer have records for one reason or another, but is it worth months or staff time to find a few items?
I've been toying with the idea of creating more of a digital inventory process to look for outliers to fix within a certain collection (got the idea from Melissa's presentation at PUGG day, thanks!). I thought about using create list to run comprehensive lists for either Item Type or Location Code.
Looking for thoughts on these ideas, or information sharing on inventory processes at your library. Thanks!

The Administrative Council is PrairieCat's board of directors and consists of 11 elected representatives from the Delegates Assembly. This governing body sets policy, receives and approves recommendations from the Ad Hoc and Standing Committees, and approves recommendations to go to the Delegates Assembly including new members, contracts, the budget and major purchases outside the budget.
Who should attend: Members of the Council and any other interested parties. This meeting is open to the public.

This committee creates training resources for staff and patrons, reviews and recommends potential enhancements suggested by the PrairieCat staff and members for submission to Innovative, and reviews and recommends approved Innovative enhancements for voting by PrairieCat.
Who Should Attend: Members of the Committee and any other interested PrairieCat members.

Each Fully Participating or Basic Online Member Library shall appoint its Chief Administrator or another staff member to act as the Fully Participating or Basic Online Member Library’s representative (“Delegate”) on the Delegates Assembly. The Delegate may also designate, in writing, an alternate to vote in their absence. No substitutes or proxies shall be allowed to vote in the place of a Delegate or their designated Alternate.
