Hello. I am wondering what other libraries do in the case of issuing library cards to children of divorced parents, i.e. which parent the card goes under? We normally say that the parent who has custody gets the card, but what if the other parent comes in first and gets a card, and then the parent with custody comes in and tries to get a card for the child? Do you tell the parent with custody that the other parent beat them to it, or do you call the parent who got the card first and say you are taking away that card? This is happening more and more lately. What is best practice? I would obviously prefer to not get involved in personal matters. I appreciate any thoughts anyone has to offer on this.

Anyone have a recommendation for a fun space themed program suitable for a SRP Kickoff event?
Hi everyone,
I wanted to reach out to fellow children’s programming professionals to brainstorm and share creative solutions for offering engaging programs on a limited budget. Like many libraries, we are navigating the challenge of providing high-quality programming for children without a large budget.
One approach that’s worked for us is incorporating DIY craft activities using inexpensive materials we already have in our library, like paper, crayons, and old magazines.
What about you? Have you found any low-cost yet high-impact program ideas that get kids excited? How do you make the most of limited resources while keeping programs fresh and fun?
Looking forward to hearing your ideas!
Best,
Victoria
