It's that time of year again, and Paging Lists for school member libraries will be turned off as of Monday, April 14, 2025. Beginning on that date, school library materials will not be holdable until schools resume in the fall. Schools will still be able to request materials to fulfill their students' needs to the end of the school year.
To make this a smooth transition, a School Year Checklist is available on the support site.
The 2nd page has the checklist for the end of the year and the 3rd page has information on contacting RAILS delivery.
FOR SCHOOL LIBRARIES:
- Make sure that materials you've borrowed are returned to other PrairieCat libraries before the end of the school year.
- Schools that are NOT open over the summer should ensure that any outstanding holds you have placed are cancelled. Any remaining holds will be cancelled automatically by PrairieCat on May 31, 2025.
- If any *circulating* school libraries need last due dates added to Sierra, or you do not want your paging lists turned off for the summer, please open a Help Desk ticket. Please let PrairieCat know as soon as possible if you need an end-of-term due date!
- Don't forget! When you're ready to re-open in the fall, please use this form to provide PrairieCat with advance notice of your re-opening plans.
- PrairieCat staff does not have any information about last delivery dates for the school year, so you will need to contact the RAILS Delivery Help Desk for that information.
FOR ALL OTHER LIBRARIES:
- Make sure that materials you've borrowed from schools are returned before mid-May.
- Let your staff know that they should never override when placing holds.
- Check your MANAGE HOLDS report to make sure that your patrons' holds are being filled in a timely manner and that you don't have any holds placed on materials owned exclusively by schools.
