A problem was identified yesterday with the Capira mobile app: when users select a hold pickup location, that location is assigned to the next library on the list. So for example, New Lenox patrons may have the Nippersink library assigned as the hold pickup location.
OCLC has identified the problem and corrected it. OCLC will be sending out a push notification to Android users: “To prevent issues with your holds, please go to the Play Store and update your PrairieCat application immediately. Thank you!”
This issue affects only Android users and only those users who have updated their app recently. Please encourage your patrons to update their app!
Several hundred holds have been affected by this issue, impacting many PrairieCat libraries. PrairieCat staff are continuing to identify these holds and correct them, but it is possible that some patrons have received notifications that items are available for pickup at the wrong library. This issue also disproportionately affects libraries with multiple branches. For example, North Suburban patrons wanting to pick up holds at the Loves Park location may have had the Roscoe location assigned as the pickup location.
We apologize for the inconvenience and confusion this issue has caused, unfortunately it was out of PrairieCat’s control. Thank you for your patience as we have worked through this issue.
