UPDATE: Status of Notices and Paging Lists

PrairieCat requested that Innovative restart the system wide paging lists and notices on Tuesday, June 16 in preparation for the return of RAILS delivery and ILL. However, the restart failed initially, which resulted in some timing issues with the notices. We apologize for any confusion this may cause your patrons as they start to receive notices via email, text, and phone. Below is the current status of these processes.

PAGING LISTS

  • System wide paging lists are being delivered twice daily to the library’s Zimbra account as of 6/17.
  • The local holds list will still be run (for libraries that originally requested it) until PrairieCat staff finish testing the system. Libraries will be notified when the local holds lists will be turned off.
  • Libraries may use both lists during the interim (there may be duplicates on the lists).
  • ILL/Delivery will resume on 6/29 for libraries that opt in. Libraries may ignore those ILL requests when processing your paging lists until then. (More details to come on the ILL/Delivery processes). 

NOTICES:

  • Hold Available Notices and Courtesy Notices (including email, text, and phone) restarted the afternoon of 6/16. Libraries do not need to contact patrons for holds pickup as those notices are running automatically.   • Overdue Notices and Bill Notices (including email, text, and phone) restarted 6/17.

DUE DATES:

  • Due dates were extended for items with due dates => 03/13/2020. So if the items were due prior to 3/13, the due dates were not extended. Patrons may receive notices on those items.
  • Due date periods were returned to their pre-shutdown values on 6/5. Items that checked out before 6/5 had an absolute due date of 6/26/2020.

REMINDERS:

  • All notices have been turned off since 3/16.
  • Patrons who have had materials out before we closed down (3/16) may receive overdue or bill notices. Libraries may need to address some situations on a case-by-case basis, since we cannot cover every eventuality.
  • Libraries are encouraged to review notices and patron accounts before mailing notices.
  • PrairieCat highly recommends using your fine free circ logins during the reopening phases.
