NEWS: RAILS Delivery Plan Announced

RAILS has just announced their plan for the resumption of delivery service, with full delivery service resuming 6/29 to libraries that opt in.  Please read the plan in full as libraries need to contact the delivery help desk to opt in. The plan can be found on their COVID-19 page here:

This means that PrairieCat will be able to begin restoration of full services in our Sierra system. We have formulated the following guidelines and will be communicating further as we move forward. Read the full PrairieCat Reopening Guide for instructions on how to operate.

  • Please log off the system by 9 PM.  (If you are still logged on after 9 PM, you will be “kicked off”).  We need to make changes to the systems files when no one is on the system
  • We will be returning the system to regular circulation rules, so all holds and due date periods will return to their pre-shutdown values.
  • Since Delivery will not resume until 6/29, if an item triggers a non-local hold, please do NOT trap/fill that hold.
  • You will need to continue to manually notify your patrons when their holds are available.
  • Hold pickup notices, courtesy notices, overdue notices, and the normal Sierra paging lists will NOT resume until 06/29.
  • We encourage libraries to continue to use their fine-free logins for the immediate future.  If you have not received your fine-free circ login, please contact the help desk.
  • If you have requested changes to your max items allowed, max holds allowed, or money owed, those changes will remain in effect until 06/29

  • We will be restarting the Sierra picklists and notices at this time.  Libraries will cease to use the create lists reports we have used in the interim period.
