Calling all Union Listing, Basic Online and Fully Participating PrairieCat agencies in the RAILS Bolingbrook area

There will be a Sierra Cataloging Item Entry class taught Wednesday, December 4 9:00 am – Noon at the RAILS Bolingbrook Service Center.

This class has prerequisites:
Prior to taking the Cataloging: Item entry class,  the following online classes via Talent LMS ( are required.  (You’ll need to sign up if you don’t already have an LMS account).

PrairieCat Matching (39 min.):

PrairieCat Volume Records (11 min.):

This class is designed to provide staff with a basic understanding of the capabilities of the Sierra Cataloging module as well as general overview of the PrairieCat Technical Services Policies and Procedures.

Students will learn how to add item records, edit existing item records, how to link your item to a volume record and how to code your item for removal from the database. In addition, how to create and edit volume records will be taught. Basic matching practices to bibliographic records will also be covered.
