TRAINING: Did You Know, January 2020 - What You Need to Know About Going Fine Free

If your library is considering going fine free, PrairieCat staff can help you achieve your customer service goals! January's Did You Know? is information (and some nitty gritty details!) on how this functionality can be implemented in Sierra and how it will affect your patrons.

A Cataloging Item Entry class has been added for Thursday, January 23, 2020 (9:30 AM - 12:30 PM) @ the Coal Valley Service Center. Registration is now available for this class in L2 at:

Who should attend:  Fully Participating, Basic Online & Union List library staff

NEWS: Holiday Closing (Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25)

ACTION:  Informational 

On Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25 PrairieCat will be closed and all PrairieCat support staff will be unavailable.

Standard support issues should be conveyed via the Help Desk app by submitting a ticket which will be addressed the next working day.

TRAINING: Did You Know, December 2019 - Reciprocal Borrowers

Because there are several different types of reciprocal borrowers that could use your library, explaining the differences (especially to your new staff members) can be confusing. This month's Did You Know? links you to a technical bulletin that explains each type of borrower that could help clear up the confusion.

NEWS: Return on Investment Documents for FY19

PrairieCat created a Return on Investment document to highlight the progress the organization made in FY19 ending in June 2019 and some of the ways your library benefited from membership in PrairieCat. This is an “at a glance” document that should be easy to share with your library’s board and stakeholders to emphasize the benefits of PrairieCat.

TRAINING: Did You Know, November 2019 - Using Create Lists to keep in touch with your patrons

ACTION: Informational

If you are familiar with Create Lists and you have Excel, Word, and Outlook, you can create reports in Sierra, format them in Excel, and then use the mail merge feature in Word to email your patrons for a variety of reasons. This month's Did You Know? explains how these notifications work.
